About Owensville , MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Owensville is positioned in Gasconade County in Missouri and is the commerce center for quite a few small towns that border it. An active business community, a strong industrial community, an exceptional school system, many places of worship, and varied organizations and clubs are just a few of the things that this town has to offer. Owensville is enclosed by hills and forest areas that are beautiful in each season, but you can’t miss the splendor of autumn in this town.
By 1840, the area now recognized as Gasconade County had been established. At the junction of a path that ran from St. Louis to Springfield and an ox cart trail that ran from St. James to Hermann, Owensville took shape. All that stood there, at first, was a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a few other small businesses and buildings. This little group of buildings and businesses would grow into modern day Owensville. The story of the name is a bit interesting, as the general store owner was named Owen and the blacksmith shop’s owner was Luster and it is said that they played a game of horseshoes to decide the name. It’s a local legend, which may not be totally true, but is still fun! Over the years, the city’s economy expanded. A corn cob pipe factory and a shoe factory were built in the 1900s. Then, other industries began to move in. Over the years, and through each season, Owensville has grown and endured with the grace of a proud and committed community.
There are two beautiful lake areas within just a few minutes of Owensville. These destinations are ideal for the warmer seasons in the Midwest. Spring and summer in Missouri are warm and pleasant and perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and lazy days sunning yourself at the lake. Local kids spend a great deal of their free time in the summer out on the lake. Suntans, icy drink and bathing suits are what summer in this part of world is made of.
