About California, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
California, Missouri is an unusual name that stands out amongst its neighbor’s names. It is a name that you have to stop and think about upon being heard. And, it also happens to be the home of the oldest courthouse in the state with a stunning front porch. The semicircular shape and amazing details of this building add to its stunning appearance. Built in 1867, it had been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970. The first floor of the courthouse features several museum displays and is a great little stop on a snowy, wintry day when you want to get the kids out and about.
Two more indoor attractions perfect for inhospitable weather conditions. Rain, snow, sleet, or blistering heat – there is plenty to do. Located downtown the Heritage Cultural Center was once the Post Office. It is now home to the museum curated by the local historical society. The Cultural Heritage Center houses several wall murals portraying regional historical events and stories. It is really quite beautiful and a testament to the pride that the locals have in their community. The Rice House was constructed in 1867 by Niles Rice. It is a stunningly kept home with fascinating pieces of history written into its ambience. The Finke Theatre hosts regular performances throughout the year.
But, if you are the outdoorsy type then summer is going to be your favorite season in this little Midwestern town. There are two beautiful lake areas not far from town. These destinations are ideal for the warmer seasons in the Midwest. Spring and summer in Missouri are warm and pleasant and perfect to go for a dip, jump on a jet ski, or going out boating and fishing trips. There is a great sense of pride in these lakes and in the natural splendor that surrounds the area. This town is small and perhaps unassuming but, like all of the towns around it, it is bursting at the seams with charm and people love it here.
