Ashland is located in Southern Boone County, Missouri in the Midwestern part of the country and has a population of about 4,000 people. It is a picturesque little village with a convenient locality and outstanding schools. Many inhabitants commute to Columbia and/or Jefferson City, both less than 15 minutes away on US Highway 63. Both St. Louis and Kansas City are less than two hours away. Temperate, moderate, seasonal weather is also attractive to people who choose to live in the Midwest. Because of the varied weather, Ashland’s inhabitants take pleasure in numerous out-of-doors activities.There are approximately 750 households in town, and about 40 % of them have children living in the home. Almost half of them are married couples and about 10% are senior citizens living alone. The makeup of the town is quite family-oriented.
They enjoy climbing, rock climbing, and spelunking at Rock Bridge State Park. Hunting and horseback riding are popular at Three Creeks State Wildlife Area. There’s camping at Pine Ridge Campground in the Mark Twain National Forest and The University of Missouri holds large tracts of territory that are accessible for study and certain communal uses. Locals and visitors spend the warmer months cycling and walking on the Katy Trail State Park spanning a great length of the picturesque Missouri River.
The School District has a reputation of education distinction. High school graduation rates are much higher than the state average. The school district offers various student activities, clubs, and sports education programs. There are performing arts programs - including band & choir. In addition, there are a wide variety of athletic opportunities. Baseball, softball, football, volleyball, cross country and golf are just a few of the sports offered. There also just happen to be seven institutions of higher learning within 25 minutes of town.
